BIRMINGHAM BULLS ANNOUNCE 2018-19 PROTECTED LIST

Jacob Barber, Craig Simchuk, Josh Harris highlight 13-player list

BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Birmingham Bulls and head coach Jamey Hicks announced on Thursday their 13-player protected list for the upcoming 2018-19 SPHL season.

Per SPHL rules, each team may protect 13 players who finished the previous season on their roster. Those players are untouchable in the upcoming expansion draft and cannot be signed by other SPHL teams. Players left off the list are eligible to be drafted by the yet to be named Quad City franchise in the expansion draft and are free to sign with any SPHL team if they are not drafted. 

2017-18 SPHL Rookie of the Year Jacob Barber headlines the list. In his first pro season, Barber finished with 24 goals and 29 assists with a league-best 53 points among the rookie class. He’s joined by Bulls team MVP Josh Harris who closed out the season with 26 goals and 23 assists. 

Other notable inclusions are 2017-18 team captain Craig Simchuk , who registered 8 goals and 12 assists with the Bulls, forward Evan Schultz, who put up 13 goals and 17 assists,  and goalie Mavric Parks who closed out the season with the third highest save percentage in the SPHL at .916.
