AMIT MOMAYA, MD

Dr. Amit Momaya is a sports medicine surgeon and serves as section head of the sports medicine division within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has had extensive training in the care of patients with shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee injuries. He specializes in ACL injuries, meniscus and cartilage restoration, and labrum repairs. Dr. Momaya has taken care of patients at all levels—from the weekend warrior to the professional athlete.

AARON CASP, MD
Sports Medicine, Hip, Knee and Shoulder Surgeon – University of Alabama at Birmingham
Dr. Casp is a sports medicine specialist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has expertise in the care of the athlete, having previously cared for multiple athletes from the NHL, NFL, and MLB, and he currently travels with and provides medical coverage for the U.S. Ski Team. His expertise is in minimally invasive hip, knee, and shoulder surgery, and he enjoys helping active individuals from all walks of life.
MIKE JOHNSON, MD
Foot and Ankle Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Johnson received numerous honors, scholarships and awards during his training period, including the Thomas E. Rast Endowed Medical Scholarship at the UAB School of Medicine. Outside of soccer, Maggi is an avid college football fan. The native of Columbia, SC also enjoys going to the beach and spending time with friends and family.
His clinical interest and specialty is diagnosis, treatment and therapy of foot and ankle disease, injuries, pain management—both non-operative and operative. In addition to his Orthopaedic training, Dr. Johnson is certified in Advanced Cardiac and Trauma
IRFAN ASIF, MD
Family Medicine, Sports Medicine
Dr. Irfan Asif is a Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and specializes in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. He completed a fellowship at the National Institute of Program Director Development, and another at the University of Washington Sports Medicine. He was in residency and completed an internship at the University of Washington Family Medicine
IAM MCKEAG, MD
As a new addition to the UAB team, Dr. McKeag is thrilled to have been named Director for the Family and Community Medicine Sports and Exercise Medicine Fellowship. Originally from the Midwest, he has most recently relocated from the Cone Sports Medicine Fellowship in Greensboro, NC where he was trained in diagnostic and procedural ultrasound. In Greensboro, Dr. McKeag covered Guilford College athletics, Greensboro Swarm (NBA G League), Carolina Cobras (arena football), and local USA Gymnastics and USA Basketball events. He enjoys working with athletes of all levels, and integrating the diagnostic capabilities of ultrasound into the everyday sports medicine clinic. Outside the realm of sports medicine, Dr. McKeag also has a great interest in Global Health (Nepal, Haiti, Honduras), and was the co-principal investigator of the group awarded the 2019 AMSSM Global Service Project Grant. Away from work, he can be found with his wife and two dogs, fishing, camping, or playing some kind of sport.
